Hello and Welcome!
I’m so happy you’re visiting. Like you, I encompass many roles, and juggle lots of thoughts and feelings all at once. I’m an artist, writer, librarian, nature lover, late bloomer, sci-fi and “all things cosmic” enthusiast, anglophile, napper, introvert, quote collector, and ever-curious path follower.
I enjoy swearing in the right circumstances and am an impatient “fixer.” I try to be kind. I like to feather my nest with small, eclectic objects I don’t need, but make me feel better.
My enthusiasm runs to re-wilding our backyards and nurturing reciprocal balance between all living things. If our earth family of flora, fauna, sky, land and oceans suffer, humans will inevitably follow suit. I want to live to be 100 to see what happens next.
I came to the creative life late, at fifty-eight to be exact, after a family crisis and Covid lockdown convinced me that if I was going to do something for myself – to finally sort through my feelings about the world around me and my place in it – I would have to start . . . for real. No more wishful thinking. My writing experiences up to that point had been a few inconsistent efforts over the years. But once I started, something unlocked inside of me. Stuff just poured out. I felt mentally free for the first time since childhood like a kid out exploring in the tall grass again. As the Taoists say, start each day with a “beginner’s mind.”
And you don’t need an official hobby to feel this way. Just let go of some of that responsibility. We have very little control over anything or anyone anyway! Just sit and think, then stare out the window and think some more. Daydream and meander . . . experience your true self in the quiet. Old doors will close; new doors will open. Take those small risks. It’s worth it, I promise you.
